April 30, 2019: Catching a swarm

We found a swarm after the Florida Apiary inspector came through. I caught it. Later we discovered it was not a true swarm but a mating dance for one of our hives that was attempting to mate and go back to the hive. We know this only because after the swarm was caught a few days later another small swarm occurred. We left that one alone and watched. It stayed in one place for almost three days through the night and rain. finally the all flew and went back into one of the hives. After a few days we located eggs in the hive. The swarm I caught is doing well and has eggs as well. Lesson learned, do not always be concerned about a swarm if you know your hives.

This was the second one after that went back to the hive after a couple of days.
