February 26, 2020: Built MiniNucs to Raise Queens

I just completed building 6 MiniNucs. They are for rearing queens. I want it thank David @barnyardbees2017 for the video and showing just how important these MiniNucs can be in an apiary. I did make a change to place a feeder on the back instead of on top.

February 23, 2020: Bee Rescue in Winter Park

A few weeks ago, we got a call from Martin in Winter Park about bees in his soffit. We found that they are actually in his wall behind the electric panel. It has taken some time but are slowly moving in to a hive we set up nearby.

  • Set up cone and sealed everything else off. Can only go out.
Since the bees cannot go back in, they go to the hive we have on the ground or up. We scooped bees and placed them into the hive.

    The hive we set next to the electric panel to attract bees from their original hive in the wall are now starting to use the hive.

    Once the majority of the bees were in the hive, we started to look for the queen.

    The bees from Winter Park have a new home at Jillibees Apiary.
