Saving bees one backyard at a time
The hives have been built. The two 10 frames will be heading to Marblehead Massachusetts, and the two 8 frames will be going to Winter Park, Florida. To finish the process, three coats of tung oil will be applied starting today. They should be ready for shipment and pickup by Friday.
Honey update: Our girls are working very hard to provide you honey. As of our last inspection, we now have 12 honey supers on 12 of our 20 hives. The 6 we put on earlier have close to 110 lbs of honey. However, it is not ready to be harvested yet. The frames have to be at least 90% capped with a water percentage rating of less than 17.8%. We want to thank all those who have asked to be placed on our honey waiting list. It’s up to the girls as to when the honey will be ready to harvest and when it will be available to our valued customers. We appreciate your patience and your business.
Our last hive inspection was a success!! We now have created nine nucs with 10 of them on our waiting list. In about 40 days we should have most of them available. It’s all up to the girls on how well they create a new colony. Our next inspection, in two weeks, should provide us a few more nucs. We are small but will only provide healthy growing nucs to those who want them.
