Went on a bee rescue this morning. The colony was up in a tree at one of our hosts’ property. Found the queen, vacuumed up the bees and went back to Jillibees.
We brought the bees back to Jillibees Apiary and placed them in a Nuc.
Saving bees one backyard at a time
Went on a bee rescue this morning. The colony was up in a tree at one of our hosts’ property. Found the queen, vacuumed up the bees and went back to Jillibees.
We brought the bees back to Jillibees Apiary and placed them in a Nuc.
We were able to retrieve 21 frames of honey that came out to 7 1/2 gallons of honey. Way to go girls!!!
In the afternoon, we placed all the frames, spinner and other equipment out for the bees to retrieve and take back to the hives.
Jillibees was invited to McCoy Elementary school today to teach four 2nd grade classes about the importance of the beautiful Honeybee and other pollinators. Thank you Tracy Mihelich for the opportunity!
