January 5, 2019: Built a new hive stand
We knew we were going to expand the number of hives we had in our backyard, so Jill wanted to build a hive stand that would hold six hives. It had to be 12 ft long and minimize the legs for pest with maximum support.
December 20, 2018: Building a new base and super
Jill wanted another super for the current hive we have plus a base. The hive parts we have purchase were very disappointing. So, I decided to build my own boxes. I had bought a router table, new router and table saw. I then proceeded to build a new super and base.
December 8, 2018: Last inspection of the year
Last inspection of the year with a cameraman who has never been this close to bees before. You may have to stand on your head to watch the last part, but it’s all good. The bees started to freak him out and he lost his concentration.
November 12, 2018: After the Harvest
After the harvesting the honey, we took the caps and frames outside so that the bees could forage any leftover honey and take it back to their hive.
We let the bees forage empty containers of honey too. When they are done, the containers are no longer sticky and pretty clean.
