October 17, 2018: Hive Beetle and Ant Problem
We were starting to have increased issue with the hive beetle and ants. We discovered that being in so much shade, provided an environment that these bugs like. Jill decided to move the hive to an area in the yard with much more sun. The move was not pretty and left many bees for several days in the original location. We were told that you can move a hive either 2 inches or 2 miles. We moved it 70 feet. Jill kept the nuc box with sugar water near the stand and every few hours move the box over to the new location and the bees found their hive. She would take it back and repeat the process for three days. Everything turned out OK.
October 15, 2018: Checking on the FlowHive super
Checked on the FlowHive super with the little glass window. No capped honey and it has been 5 months. FlowHive is not working for us. We decided to remove the FlowHive frames and replace it with foundation frames.
August 12, 2018: Our fourth inspection
We did another inspection and this time we tried a stationary camera. Not very effective but I was finally in the hive with Jill.
